Being-Rome: Style

What comes to your mind when you think of the word style? For the longest I always associated “style” with someone who was impeccably dressed. You know, men in fitted tailored suits and women in ballroom gowns. Since getting into fashion and learning about the iconic brands associated with it I have come to learn that fashion, like art and music are all forms of expression. While an artist may use a canvas, and a musician their vocals or instrument(s), designers use clothing as a form of expression.

I noticed when it came to fashion (especially couture), I had a kind of love/dislike relationship with it. Some pieces I loved while others…not so much. In any case after reviewing different collections from different designers from different seasons (both past and present) one thing I did notice was I liked certain pieces from their collections. So that’s when I started looking more into what style really was. According to style is “expressing yourself through what you wear”. That's when everything started to click.

Most people (whether they know it or not) have their own unique style. I think a good example are cartoon characters. Think of your favorite cartoon character (past or present) and what they wear, if you notice for the most part they are always in the same exact outfit. This is their style, their way of expressing themselves through what they wear. Now as for actual people, you may have something that is unique to your personal style like: wearing all black, wearing socks with graphics on them, wearing leggings with crop tops, or even wearing dress shirts with jeans and casual shoes. No matter how major or minor the choices you make they are what help to define your style.

My style posts will focus on pieces and accessories that I like, and I think are hott. Some will be very unique, while others might be on trend. The most important thing to remember about each piece I post on my blog or my social media accounts is: They are of pieces I genuinely like.

Thank You for taking out the time to read my post. It really means a lot to me, and if you see something you like feel free to share it.
